Hi, my name is Abraham Sedri and I am in my third year of study, enrolled onto Theoretical Physics. I am German and have lived in the UK for over 10 years as of this point. I enjoy a great variety of activites, amongst which is an unhealthy obsession with Korean Pop music and a fascination for the east asian culture in general. I enjoy reading Manga, playing video games, watching Anime, taking runs and playing tennis in the park but above all I have an unbelievable passion for satisfying my curiosity. This causes me to keep asking questions and to keep trying to reach the bottom of everythig. This passion drove me to pursue Physics at an undergraduate level with hope that I may one day research these very topics within the quantum world that fascinate me to such an extent. After having studied for two years at this establishment there is nowhere I'd rather spend my time doing so.
Alessandra is a student at Boston College in Massachusetts, originally from Phoenix, Arizona. A junior at Boston College, she'll be completing the second semester of her third year of studies at QMUL. She is studying in the School of English and Drama at Queen Mary, taking courses on great British writers like Virginia Woolf and John Milton.
My name is Alexandra Cordato. I am a second year BSc Economics student. I am an international student, originally from Australia. I am currently the President of the Economics Society at Queen Mary and am a Student Ambassador for the School of Economics and Finance. I hope to complete further study in Economics and to pursue a career in economics research and policy. In my spare time I become a tourist and try to explore all that London has to offer.
Hi, I'm a 2nd year PhD student, based at the Heart Centre in QMUL's Charterhouse Square campus. My project is funded by the British Heart Foundation, and the focus is in the area of cardiac arrhythmia. After I complete my PhD I hope to continue my career in academia.
When I'm not in the lab, I really enjoy practising yoga and attempting to learn ballet. I am also a keen (amateur) cook, and you can see my culinary adventures in my personal blog: www.thekitchensmiths.com
I first came to the UK when I was 12, and I loved it since; when I left I promised to myself to come back. Hence, at 15 years old I spent a full year as an exchange student; during this I lived in a family, attended a Catholic school in the Midlands and took 8 GCSEs. I had a fantastic experience and I didn't want to go back; in fact, here I am studying Medical Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London.
I must be honest, engineering is one of the best causalities that life reserved for me; only after I started the course I became a complete engineering geek and I realised I couldn't have ended up doing anything more exciting. I have gained a lot out of my time at Queen Mary and I took every opportunity that came along. So far, I have been the Course Representative for my course for the last two years, I am the President and Finance Manager of the Formula Student Society, PASS mentor, student ambassador and ''occasional blogger''. I hope to share some of my experiences with you and be a source of inspiration for you all!
Second Year BA History and Politics at QMUL.
Born and raised in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
Studying abroad in the USA, at Boston College in Massachusetts.
Fan of all things LFC, travelling the globe and living outside my comfort zone.
Looking at international law/human rights/political risk/foreign diplomacy/civil service after graduation, or maybe even some more education. See, you're just as confused as I am.
English Postgraduate Taught; Eighteenth Century Enlightenment and Romanticism
Hi, I'm Audrey. I'm an English Literature Postgraduate student with Queen Mary. I am from the Midwestern US, Nebraska to be exact (point to the middle of the country -aka the Heartland- and that's Nebraska). I enjoy studying and living in such an open, accessible city, and try to take part in as many activities on campus and around London as possible. I serve as the English Postgraduate Taught Course Rep with the Student Union and have spent several lovely days involved in one-off volunteer events. If you're new to London (or any city, really), get involved! It's the best way to meet friends.
Hi! My name's Billie and I'm going into my third year studying English Language and Linguistics at QMUL. At uni I'm a course representative for my year and my interests include reading, lifestyle blogging and visiting museums and galleries. Outside of university, I've been lucky enough to intern for Little, Brown Book Group (a member of Hachette UK), where I have worked in both the publicity and editorial department. I also interned for 3 months at a small magazine publishing company. This experience has confirmed to me that after I graduate, I hope to pursue a career in publishing, preferably also in London. :)
Bret Jones has worked extensively as a dancer and actor. Theatre Credits include Fred Astaire – His Daughter’s Tribute, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Half A Sixpence, and Shall We Dance. Catherine Cooper is a Study Abroad associate student from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She is completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Theatre Studies at her home institution, undertaking final year modules within the School of English and Drama at Queen Mary during Spring Semester 2013.
Hi! I was a third year BSc Physical Geography Student at Queen Mary when I started this blog. I am now studying MSc Integrated Management of Freshwater Enviroments. I would like to become an Environmental Consultant! I love to travel and explore different places and cultures. Aside from my studies I am involved in the Queen Mary Hockey and Swimming team, and do volunteering as well as a part time job. I try to take part in many of the exciting opportunities that university brings. I hope that this blog inspires you to do the same; to do things you would never have considered before!
Study Abroad in 2013 - Spring Semester, Film and History
Hello! I'm currently a Junior studying Film and Television Production at the University of Southern California. I love exploring whatever city I'm in and am a proud foodie! I decided to study abroad in London because I've been in love with British humor and culture for about a decade and couldn't imagine being anywhere else in the world.
If you'd like to follow my personal blog or learn more about me and my work, please visit: http://whimsylin.wordpress.com/
Or if you love food, feel to free to pop on over to my food blog:
I am a second year Bsc Physical Geography student at Queen Mary. Apart froms studying I do volunteering, part time work and I am also the event manager of Queen Mary fussball Society. Before I came to uni I travelled a lot (been to more then 40 countries!) and the travelling hasn't stopped yet as we have been going all over uk on field trips :)
I am a second year economics student from Romania. I have a passion for writing, despite my degree, which is 'drowned' in maths. I love to meet new people and find out new things, which is why I came to study in London, the place of all possibilities, as they say.
Hi! My name is Danielle. I am a study abroad student at Queen Mary for the semester from the University of Miami in the U.S. There I study advertising, but here I am studying a whole bunch of different subjects including history, business, and theatre. I love music and musical theatre (and London is one of the best places in the world to be for theatre!) Here at Queen Mary, though, I decided to try some new things and have joined the Harry Potter Appreciation Society and the Baking Society. Some day I hope to combine my education in advertising and my love for theatre by working in the business side of the theatre industry.
My name is Danielle and I am an Art History major studying abroad who made a blog to document my trip.
For the entire year I will be studying at Queen Mary, University of London. I plan on traveling all over to experience as much as I can while managing classes.
Hello! I am a Senior Biochemistry student from California, USA. My home university is UCSB. I decided to study abroad because I finished studying my major two quarters early and the opportunity presented itself! Here at Queen Mary, University of London, I will be taking courses that will strengthen my studies as a premed student. To make the most of my time here, I will be exploring the many historical and cultural sites of London. When I return to California, I will be taking a 6-month break to study for the MCAT before I start a Post-bacchelorate program in Biology.
This blog will serve as a journal to document my experiences in travel and of assimilation into London society.
I'm a 2nd year mature student, studying Bsc Environmental Science within the School of Geography at Queen Mary. I'm 26 and prior to starting at Queen Mary I had spent quite a few years working in tedious office jobs, so getting to study a subject I love in a stimulating environment has made a brilliant change from the hum-drum life of the 9-5. I did spend a year travelling around the world when I was 22, taking in sights from India to Fiji. It was one of the best year's of my life! Some other pretty great years have been since I moved to London and QMUL. For anyone with a sense of adventure living in London is a must!
My name is Habiba. I'm a second year Medical engineer. Prior to this degree, I had completed a Higher National Diploma in Product Design. I wanted to help people through products using science and engineering, and this is where it has led me! I would like to pursue a career in the clinical engineering field. However, with so many possibilities available to an engineering graduate, I am open in considering other career possibilities!
Year 3, MEng Medical Engineering with Industrial Experience
Hi everyone, I'm Huseyin a current Third Year Medical Engineering student who wants to do a year in industry as a part of my course. One of the main things I love doing is helping people in as many ways you could think of, and I hope you can gain some value in your life through my blogs.
Hi my name is Ida and I'm a first year LLB Law student. I'm originally from London but I have lived all around the world, which was incredible. But now I'm back in the hood and settling at QM. I'm an aspiring barrister in either intellectual property law or human rights (haven't made up my mind yet). I'm trying to get as involved as possible at uni, I've joined a bunch of societies and so far I'm loving my experience at QM. In the evenings I play the piano in a jazz bar in Soho.
I'm a first year economics student at Queen Mary University of London. Originally from Sheffield (that's in the north of England), I moved to London in order to study and experience life in the greatest city on earth. After university I hope to work in the city, possibly in insurance, possibly in asset management or maybe somewhere totally different... Who knows?
Bon Dia! I’m Jaume a 2nd year PhD student at the School of Business and Management. Originally from Barcelona, I hold a BSc on Political Science and acquired some work experience before I came to London and resume my studies three years ago. I spent my first year in the UK at Queen Mary, enrolled at the MSc International Business at the School of Business and Management and living on campus. Despite that I never seriously thought of doing a PhD when I was an undergrad in Barcelona, my year at Queen Mary awoke some sort of academic curiosity so last year decided to come back at the School of Business and Management and pursue a PhD.
As a not so young foreign post-graduate student I hope I will be able to provide a different view in this student’s blog. If you wish you can find some of my more serious writings at the Centre of Globalisation Research blog, alongside with the more illuminating work of the School of Business and Management’s lecturers, professors, and other PhD Students.
Centre of Globalisation Research blog
My name is Joshna. I am an Economics student currently in my second year at QMUL. Moving to London has really deepened my love and appreciation for photography, culture, fashion, art, meeting new people, and everything else the city has to offer. Through my blog my readers can journey with me through university life, London life, and everything in between. Enjoy!
I was born in Denmark but grew up in Washington DC, Berlin and, after while, Copenhagen. I came to the UK in 2005 and moved to London in 2008. I am doing a Mechanical Engineering degree at Queen Mary and I would like to work in the robotics industry.
My 3rd Year Project supervisor is Dr. M. Hasan Shaheed. I am working with him on a master-slave robotic arm system.
I am in my second year studying English Literature. Poetry is one of my biggest passions and I enjoy writing (and occasionally performing) my own poetry, as well as attending spoken word nights and watching exciting new poets perform. I love studying in London because, unlike in my hometown Portsmouth, there is always something interesting going on and there are a range of brilliant galleries, museums and markets to visit. I am a columnist for the student-run CUB Magazine and write about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, as mental health is an important issue to me. One day I would like to help tackle the stigma attached to mental health problems on a greater scale.
Native to New Jersey and hailing from Northeastern University in Boston, I'm spending a semester abroad here in London at Queen Mary. As an English major, England seemed an obvious choice when it came down to it, but my reasoning goes beyond the obvious. I'm here to learn to communicate across cultures, because as any writer or reader knows, communication is key.
My name is Kirsty Day, I am 18 and I have just completed my first year of Law. Although I attend Queen Mary, do not live on campus.
My aspiration in life is to become a Barrister, either in criminal law, child law, or property law. I am slightly unsure as to which yet, but I definitely like the idea of being a criminal Barrister to stand up for people and give them a voice that they otherwise wouldn't have.
In my free time, I like to do Karate, I have 2 black belts and I also help set up a new club on thursday's.
I do like to write and to share my thoughts and hopefully my blogs will offer people a bit of advice and reassurance about studying and university in general.
Hi everyone! My name is Liam Hartley and I'm just about to start my second year of Physics at Queen Mary.

I love reading, writing and playing tennis - and I hope to learn the piano and learn another language one day!

Hi, I'm Meg and I'm studying Mathematics at QMUL. I've been living in London for just over a year now but originally I'm from South Wales. When I'm not hunched over my desk attempting to grasp complex numbers and other mysterious mathematical concepts, I enjoy exercising, playing piano, going to gigs and reading. I adore living in London but I do miss the beach (and my dogs) terribly.

I was interested in Engineering from when I was small without knowing what engineering was; always interested how things worked and how to get them back to work since I was my family's mechanic. =) However i was driven to study medicine from a early age, but when given the choice I picked medical Engineering. I was born on the July the 11th, 1991. My hobby are Basketball, reading books and spending time with my friends and family.
Hi! I'm second year student studying English literature and drama. I'm a Londoner, born and bred, and I like to read (anything from Daphne De Maurier to Michael Morpurgo), drink tea and play the drums. An undying dream of mine is to "travel the world", but so far, asides from a few European countries, I've only managed the United States: for the past two summers I've worked Parent-Trap style as a councelor at a summer camp in East Hampton, New York and I've loved it so completely that I'm set to embark on my third year this June! Asides from all of that, I just like gritty East London pubs and weird and wacky theatre - who doesn't?
Study Abroad Fall 2014; Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law
Hi! I'm a junior studying Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law (wow that's a mouthful) at the University of Richmond in Virginia. I'm really excited to be here in London for the first time in my life and am excited to explore the city, the country, and just about everywhere in Europe that I can fit into my schedule! I chose London in particular partly because of the ease of travel and the fact that everyone still speaks English; but mostly it's because I love British culture (particularly humor like Monty Python and the Cornetto Trilogy) and I recently got into Doctor Who. I wanted to explore London so I could see what it is truly like to be there.
Hello, my name is Stacee and I'm from Bermuda. I began my law (senior status) studies at Queen Mary, University of London in September 2012. I joined the Student Pro bono Group's legal news team and write for each publication of 'The Advocate' newspaper. This is my second undergraduate degree, as I obtained an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in 'International Development & Globalization' from the University of Ottawa (ON, Canada) in 2010. I'm a Gold Award holder and volunteer for the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. I also enjoy traveling, journalism, playing piano and almost anything related to the arts. Upon completing my studies I hope to embark on an exciting and successful legal career.
Having completed one year of my undergraduate study, I was lucky enough to be selected for a newly offered Chinese government scholarship to study in China. This means I'm now taking a year out from Queen Mary to go into something completely new - a year of learning the Chinese language - at Sichuan University in Chengdu, central-southern China.
I'm a lover of travel and new experiences, usually in the way of adventure and 'things happening which I didn't expect to happen'. My current idea of fun is to go in one direction by any means and see where the day takes me.
