Integrated Management of Freshwater Environments
Hi! I was a third year BSc Physical Geography Student at Queen Mary when I started this blog. I am now studying MSc Integrated Management of Freshwater Enviroments. I would like to become an Environmental Consultant! I love to travel and explore different places and cultures. Aside from my studies I am involved in the Queen Mary Hockey and Swimming team, and do volunteering as well as a part time job. I try to take part in many of the exciting opportunities that university brings. I hope that this blog inspires you to do the same; to do things you would never have considered before!

Living the dream

I have been in China for 2 weeks now! This language and culture study abroad trip has been a blast. I have met some amazing new friends here from QM who I’ve thoroughly enjoyed spending time with. At the weekend we went on a day trip to the water town Zhujiajiao and also to the famous M50 art district. Learning Chinese continues to be a challenge, but one I want to conquer. Today we had a calligraphy class after morning writing and reading comprehension, which was again a fun new experience. Campus life at East China University of Science and Technology is friendly and welcoming, the only exceptions are that it’s 10x bigger and the food here in the dining halls is a continuous guessing game!

Shanghai Chinese language and cultural experience!

Taking up the opportunity to go to China for a month with 25 other students was one of the best spur of the moment decisions I have made at my time at QM. We have been having lessons each morning for a few hours which has been challenging, yet so rewarding. Experiencing the culture whilst putting into practice the Chinese we have learnt has been a lot of fun. Today we went to Shanghai’s aquarium which has the longest viewing tunnel in the world! The view from rooftop bars are amazing, Bar Rouge has been the best by far. Excited for what is to come in the next few weeks!
